In the last few years, we learned that township residents whose dwellings are in the flood plain but the township is not a participant of the National Flood Insurance Program are not covered under NFIP even if they paid their premiums.
If your Township is outside the floodplain, it's non-applicable, but just about every Township has a creek, river, or closed basin lake or slough within our boundaries; hence, it may apply.
Please look into this before some of your residents are denied flood loss coverage even after paying the premiums.
